We have all been through this. As soon as the exam season begins we start our preparation with a lot of enthusiasm. We plan our schedule to utter perfection, vow to stick to our flawless strategy, and excel in our exams. But reality? We stop following the schedule right after 2 days and start studying just the day before the exam. But if you want to be that cool guy who is annoyingly all chilled out during the exams, then you got to level up! So here are 5 effective ways to stay motivated during the exams and slay them like a pro.

1. Plan your day, every morning!

Everyone loves the planning phase, we schedule which chapter we are going to revise, on which hour of the 10th day of preparation. But you really don’t know what might come up on the 10th day. If due to some external means you haven’t completed your task for the day, you end up being dissatisfied and that might demotivate you a little. So don’t over plan, assign a realistic amount of work each day in the morning before you sit down for your preparation.

2. Stick out your day plan right in front of you

It is easy for the brain to forget stuff and keep wandering around but you have to keep reminding it again and again that it has its own tasks to complete. The best way to do this is to write down all the main tasks on a piece of paper and stick it in front of you at your study desk. This visually reminds your brain that it has work to finish and motivates you to come back from wandering thoughts and stick to your schedule.

3. Feed-in the accomplishments

We as humans start to work even harder once we are struck with a sense of accomplishment. So one of the effective ways to stay motivated during the exams is to feed your brain with all the little accomplishments that you’ve made. Before you start studying write down all the sub-topics that you want to cover during that study session and as you finish each topic, strike it off with a highlighter. This not only feeds your brain with satisfaction but also gives you a clear picture of what you have accomplished in that session.

4. Use google calendar- It is more than just a calendar

Google Calendar is a time-management and scheduling calendar service. Other than being an excellent hour to hour scheduler, one of it’s the best feature is that after you feed in your day plan according to each hour, it sends reminders to your phone that you have an upcoming work to finish if you are using social media or any other application on phone.

5.  Practice 3 minutes of peace

This might sound out of context but I assure you, it isn’t. To effectively finish your work you have to stay focused and clear-headed. This is possible with just 3 minutes of meditation in the morning. Don’t worry if you haven’t done this before because in this era we have a lot of digital help at our fingertips. I personally started using an app called “Headspace”. Meditation helps you to release stress and stops your mind from wandering around when you are studying. This is one of the most effective ways to stay motivated during the exams.
